Information about our Intensive Outpatient program (IOP)
Introduction to IOP
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to serve adolescents ages 12 through 17 who are experiencing video game addiction, social media or Internet addiction and, who also suffer from depression, anxiety, social anxiety or ADHD symptoms. These conditions together can have profound consequences on general functioning and developmental progress of adolescents affecting all aspects of their life including academic performance in school, social interactions among friends, and interpersonal family dynamics.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and continuity of care
Our IOP can be utilized to continue patient care after stepping down from higher acuity facilities such as inpatient or residential treatment centers. Additionally, our IOP can serve as crisis intervention in an effort to prevent escalation and hospitalization. Upon completion of our IOP, patients can continue with their providers in our outpatient clinic at Los Gatos Therapy Center or receive care at a location of their preference.
What to expect in the IOP
The IOP program at Los Gatos Therapy Center is an eight-week program which takes place 3 times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 6:30pm). The program includes two groups a day, one individual session and one family session per week, one treatment plan meeting with parents every two weeks and one medical visit per week. The effectiveness of the treatment is dependent on the level of engagement between both the patients and parents. The program is most effective when parents /caregivers consistently participate in the weekly sessions.
Our multidisciplinary team members includes Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT), Licensed Social Worker (LCSW), Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, behavioral specialists, coaches and liaison specialists to provide support to your teen and your family in the program and outside the program.
As a fully networked outpatient clinic, we accept most insurances while we conduct the initial assessment within the context of the outpatient setting. We are currently in process of contracting the facility for the IOP, however if your teen is eligible, we will make our best effort to get a single case agreement with your insurance carrier.
